Spondylosis is a type of arthritis that affects the spine.
Spondylosis is a disease that affects the spinal column and causes pain in the back. It is most common in people who are older than 50 years of age, but it can also affect people of any age.
Spondylosis is a painful condition that causes stiffness, pain, and inflammation in the vertebrae of the spine. This condition usually starts with mild symptoms, but sometimes it leads to chronic back pain or spinal cord injury if left untreated for too long.
Spondylosis can lead to spinal stenosis, which is a narrowing of the spinal canal. This narrowing can cause pressure on nerves that run through the spinal cord and can lead to pain in different parts of your body. Spinal stenosis may also cause nerve damage if it does not heal properly.
The most common symptoms include:
- Your spinal joints don’t move as well as they used to
- Tingling and numbness in the arms, hands, legs, and/or feet
- Weakness in the muscles of the arms, shoulders, legs, feet, and/or hands
- Coordination problems
- Bladder control, bowel movements, and sexual function
