Myasthenia Gravis is a rare autoimmune disease that affects the neuromuscular junction.
Myasthenia Gravis is a disease that affects the muscles of the body, including those in the eye. It is caused by a nerve cell defect that controls muscles, also known as neuromuscular junction disorder.
The symptoms of Myasthenia Gravis are weakness or fatigue of one or both arms, weakness or paralysis of one or more limbs, drooping eyelids, muscle cramps, and stiffness in the neck. It is similar to those of other neuromuscular disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Parkinson’s disease.
Physiotherapy in Myasthenia Gravis
Physical exercise is well tolerated in patients with well-regulated Myasthenia Gravis because it helps to improve strength and coordination as well as overall function.
In myasthenia gravis, our physiotherapists help patients regain their strength and improve their quality of life by controlling symptoms such as muscle fatigue, cramps and weakness.
After the first treatment session, you are encouraged to speak with your physiotherapist about the latest evidence-based treatments that you can try at home to minimize your risk of complications or re-injury.
